The International Society of Osteopathic Practice only accepts as full members those Osteopaths who have completed accreditied courses and are Registered by the Osteopathic Council of New Zealand.
Osteopaths are mainstream health providers who are able to treat patients without referral from another health provider such as a general practitioner, but will also refer when necessary for x-ray or other tests or assessments if necessary.
Osteopaths are ACC and Health Insurer providers.
What we provide for our members: 1. Professional membership
2. Newsletters
3. Continuing Education opportunities, Seminars & workshops that provide adequate yearly CPD points Each year ISOP hosts a minimum of two weekend seminars, which, together with the mandatory first-aid certificate, provide all the CPD points needed for the year. Our seminars are reasonably priced, interesting, lively, relevant, and hosted by top-class international instructors. ISOP members can attend these seminars at greatly discounted rates
4. Political Representation. ISOP is continually developing and expanding links with relevant government departments and other Osteopathic associations, both nationally and internationally (e.g. Ministry of Health, OCNZ, OSNZ, Australian Osteopathic Association ). We do this to insure that our members are kept up to date with current developments, and that their opinions are heard where it counts
5. Free advertising on 'Positions available' & 'For Sale & Rental' web pages
6. Support It is very likely that the Osteopathic profession in this country will undergo significant changes over the next few years. One of the goals of the ISOP is to assist our members in adapting to those changes as smoothly as possible.
7.Camaraderie. The ISOP is a friendly, unpretentious, egalitarian society. With us you will find yourself among friends; fellow Osteopaths who share the same trials and tribulations ( and successes! ) that you do. To quote one of our members, “ we are a friendly society that encourages fellowship with all other Osteopaths, regardless of where they come from”.
